Under this on-call contract, Pinyon has led multiple vegetation management and restoration projects for the City and County of Denver (CCD), including noxious weed surveys, native restoration planning, and ongoing landscape maintenance. Pinyon proudly teamed with Western States Reclamation (WSR) who supported implementation activities under this contract and several task orders.
At Hutchinson Park and Prairie Park, Pinyon managed multi-year restoration efforts, providing site assessments, progress reports, vegetation surveys, and coordinating herbicide and mechanical treatments. For CCD Parks and Recreation’s East District Weed Control Project, Pinyon completed noxious weed inventories and management planning at Cherry Creek Greenway, Hentzell Park, and Kennedy Ball Field. When a 2024 treatment incident impacted non-target forbs, Pinyon proactively addressed the issue with DPR by identifying corrective protocols and overseeding test plots to inform future restoration.
Pinyon also provided ongoing maintenance for the Heron Pond Phase 1A Levee Landscape project, supporting WSR with establishment monitoring and adaptive management strategies to meet success criteria, and is tracking well under budget.
Additionally, Pinyon is supporting Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s (DOTI) Vegetation Establishment and Maintenance Program (VEMP), performing irrigation system maintenance and inspections for green infrastructure installations citywide.
