Runway 17L-35R Pavement Rehabilitation

Denver, Colorado

Pinyon, as a subconsultant, led the Envision task for the Runway 17L- 35R Rehabilitation Project under the Airside and Landside Engineering Services On-Call for the Denver International Airport (DEN). Guiding teams from planning and design through construction, Pinyon’s ENV-SPs collaborated with project teams to develop tailored sustainability strategies supporting DEN’s goal of achieving a minimum “Verified” award level. During design, Pinyon facilitated a collaborative process with the project management team to identify impacts and risks, resulting in strategies, innovations, and process improvements that enhanced sustainable performance. For construction, Pinyon implemented a comprehensive sustainability action plan, defining key strategies, tasks, responsibilities, and deliverables to secure Envision construction credits. Their work included producing detailed documentation and developing tracking tools to monitor progress and ensure transparency. This dedicated effort supported DEN’s pursuit of ISI recognition, culminating in the project earning an Envision Silver Award—DEN’s first—exceeding project goals and demonstrating Pinyon’s proven ability to deliver sustainable, resilient infrastructure.
