Bahama Avenue & Bimini Lane

Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Pinyon Environmental was contracted by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to lead comprehensive Preliminary Investigation, Remedial Investigation, and Early Response Action activities at the Bahama Avenue and Bimini Lane Site in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Between 2020 and 2024, Pinyon investigated chlorinated volatile organic compound (CVOC) and metals contamination originating from a former industrial facility through a robust program of groundwater, soil, soil gas, surface water, and sediment sampling; installation of 18 monitoring wells across private, municipal, and state lands; cultural resource clearances; and targeted source-area evaluation. Site activities also included demolition and disposal of a contaminated wastewater clarifier pit, excavation and disposal of impacted soils, and pilot testing of soil vapor extraction (SVE) to address vapor intrusion and subsurface impacts.

Leveraging in-field analytical tools and mobile labs, Pinyon enabled real-time decision-making for ADEQ, optimizing monitoring well design, refining sampling strategies, and significantly reducing subcontractor stand-by costs. The team designed and implemented a full-scale SVE system (ongoing), completed pumping tests, land and water use studies, and prepared detailed technical reports and a draft Remedial Investigation Report to support remedy selection. This integrated, data-driven approach provides ADEQ with a clear understanding of plume behavior, human health and environmental risk, and a defensible path toward long-term remediation and regulatory closure.
