Pinyon completed Wetland Reserve Plan of Operations (WRPOs) for 6,808 acres on 36 property easements along Colorado’s Front Range and in the San Luis Valley. WRPOs identify how wetland and associated habitats are currently functioning to provide a pathway for restoration to maximize habitat benefits. Pinyon conducted desktop- and field-based environmental resource assessments that included mapping wetlands, site hydrology, property infrastructure, land uses, noxious weeds, and wildlife habitat areas. Many of the easements included habitat for threatened, endangered, and special status species.
Pinyon prepared a WRPO for each easement that included baseline conditions of resources present, their quality, and historical and ongoing management efforts. For the WRPOs, Pinyon created enhancement plans, including goals and five-year management plans. Plans included overviews of restoration potential, management strategies, restoration techniques and implementation (including recommendations for noxious weed management, site-specific seed mixes, etc.), and monitoring recommendations for environmental resources.
