Federal Boulevard

Denver, Colorado

Pinyon managed the template Environmental Assessment (EA) for the widening of Federal Boulevard; a local agency project with the City and County of Denver (CCOD), the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).  In this capacity, Pinyon led the evaluation of all resources, mitigation planning, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation as well as supporting the associated stakeholder outreach including consultation with federal agency with jurisdictional responsibilities in the project area.  The project was on a very aggressive schedule as it received Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance and Partnerships (RAMP) funding which included deadlines for expenditure of monies.  A Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study had been completed for this corridor previously; however, the lapse in time between the PEL and EA necessitated that update of much of the environmental data.  Even with the additional effort required, the Pinyon Team completed the Draft EA in six months for agency review and a signed Finding of No Significant Impact in less than a year.
