National Western Center Redevelopment

Denver, Colorado

Pinyon has supported the National Western Center Redevelopment since 2015, providing environmental investigations, planning documents, and compliance oversight. Early services included environmental site assessments; materials management; and methane, odor, and dust control planning. Pinyon completed required plans and approvals ahead of construction, navigating a complex environmental history tied to former Superfund activity.

Throughout design and construction, Pinyon has led stormwater management, hazardous materials investigations, wetland delineations & permitting, and historic evaluations including photogrammetry documentation for SHPO. Pinyon also managed environmental compliance for the Horizontal Integrated Contractor, overseeing stormwater, dewatering, contaminated materials, and biological resources. Recently, Pinyon is supporting five separate National Environmental Policy Act evaluations for the Reunite Denver initiative, where five separate projects received funding through either or both the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration.

The project earned the ENR Mountain States Best Projects Award for “Landscape/Urban Development,” with Pinyon proud to be part of this award-winning team.
