Lakewood, Colorado – May 17, 2023: Pinyon Environmental, Inc., a leader in environmental consulting services, is announcing that Scott Epstein has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/President. After 30 years Lauren Evans, PE, Pinyon’s founder and previously acting CEO/President, will be retiring at the end of 2023. Scott will assume the responsibilities of the position July 1 after a transition period in which Lauren will provide support.
To define the position, Pinyon gathered employee feedback and, after a rigorous interview process conducted by a combination of internal personnel and external board members, Scott was selected for the position. As CEO/President, he will be responsible for leading the firm to new heights of success, while maintaining Pinyon’s values, overseeing all aspects of operations, and guiding Pinyon towards the future.
“I have worked with Scott for almost 20 years, and I have watched him grow from a temporary employee we hired to monitor potential contamination at a job site, to a highly respected professional, known in our industry not only locally, but nationally,” said Lauren. “During the interview process, Scott used the concept of the north star to clearly articulate his vision of the company for the next 10 years and his plan for guiding the company to that place—I will walk out the door knowing that the company and its employee-owners are in good hands.”
In 2016 Scott became Pinyon’s Principal of Strategic Implementation—providing a motivating force within the company and leading long-range strategic planning that guides the firm to ongoing success. Scott cares deeply about the Architecture Construction Engineering industry and the employees who work at Pinyon. He understands all of Pinyon’s technical services and has built an impressive network of clients and other key stakeholders in the industry. He has also demonstrated an understanding of the business side of what Pinyon does and has a firm grasp on the drivers and risks that influence company performance.
“Lauren founded Pinyon 30 years ago as a purpose-driven firm based on two pillars – our amazing employee owners and our clients,” said Scott. “That focus has led Pinyon’s growth from a small, local firm to one of the largest environmental firms in Colorado with a national presence. I truly believe continuing to invest in our employee-owners and focusing on positive client experiences will set Pinyon up to be successful over the next 30 years.”
Please join us in celebrating Lauren’s upcoming retirement and congratulating Scott on this next step in his career at Pinyon.
