Busch Ranch II Wind Project

Pinyon provided assessment, compliance, and planning services for a proposed 60-megawatt wind energy facility located on private land in Huerfano and Las Animas counties, Colorado. Pinyon undertook studies to characterize baseline conditions and evaluate impacts to resources of concern. These included a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, surface water and groundwater evaluation, cultural resource survey, bird survey, bat survey, wetland delineation, and socioeconomics analysis. Compliance services that Pinyon provided for the project included preparation of county Conditional Use and 1041 permit applications, as well as coordination with the counties to help the project comply with the applicable sections of the respective land use regulations. Pinyon also managed a noise modeling study to verify that the project will comply with the Colorado noise statute. Pinyon synthesized the results of the assessment studies to inform the siting of project infrastructure, as well as planning construction- and operations-phase Best Management Practices. Finally, Pinyon facilitated the public engagement process for the project so that the concerns of the counties and the public were considered as the project was developed.
