Regulatory Compliance

Environmental regulations are revised and implemented by numerous regulatory bodies at the local, state, and federal level. With so many parties involved, environmental regulations appear to be in a near-constant state of flux. This can make it feel frustrating and difficult to keep up-to-date with newest environmental regulations. Furthermore, regulatory changes to permitting, reporting, and inspection requirements often necessitate the use of new or different compliance measures. Pinyon has a thorough understanding of the compliance challenges facing commercial, industrial, and municipal entities in the areas of wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste management, storage tanks, spill prevention, and air quality.

Pinyon’s Regulatory Compliance specialists serve as a liaison between the regulatory agencies and our clients, providing interpretations, document preparation for submittal to regulators, compliance inventories, management plans, and on-site training. Our team assists clients through regulatory interpretation, permit and report preparation, recordkeeping, project management, business compliance audits, management plans, training sessions, and remediation.

Environmental Engineering

Pinyon’s environmental engineers support both public and private clients with maintaining compliance throughout their project’s investigation, design, permitting, construction, and post-construction stages.

We have extensive experience in compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit programs. More specifically, our engineers provide a full range of stormwater management and compliance services to a wide variety of state, municipal, industrial, and private clients. We assist clients in developing and implementing Stormwater Management Plans during construction activities, for sources of industrial, municipal, and transportation stormwater discharges, as well as provide design services for long-term stormwater management. Pinyon also has a wide variety of experience with surface water and stormwater sampling to complement these services. Pinyon offers Certified Erosion Control Professionals to develop site-specific Erosion Control Plans and to monitor construction-related sediment and erosion controls.

When it comes to construction oversight and coordination, our Environmental Compliance Management (ECM) specialists are there to make sure that all environmental compliance concerns are addressed. Our ECMs support clients with the multitude of environmental compliance inspections, permits, and other requirements that need to be coordinated in a timely manner to keep a project on schedule. With their in depth knowledge of both environmental regulations and the construction industry, they can assist you in quickly and efficiently identifying those regulations that pertain to your project, those that do not apply, and those that can be avoided with proper planning and coordination.

Our Engineering & Compliance team also offers vapor intrusion mitigation and monitoring services. Pinyon has designed soil vapor mitigation systems for federal, state and commercial facilities to mitigate a variety of soil vapors including radon, methane, vapors from petroleum fuels, and natural gas. Our experienced Radon professionals can also perform inspections of the system during construction to confirm that the system has been installed to design specifications and conduct post-construction confirmation sampling to confirm that the system is operating as intended.
