Edwards Air Force Base

Pinyon conducted a comprehensive hazardous materials assessment for Edwards Air Force Base’s REACH Facility, addressing environmental concerns before demolition and redevelopment. Key tasks included asbestos and lead-based paint surveys for 11 buildings, where 750 asbestos samples were collected and analyzed using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). Paint was tested using x-ray fluorescence, and paint chip samples were taken for lead analysis. Soil and groundwater sampling also occurred, with a focus on contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), and metals. Pinyon completed three days of soil sampling and two days of groundwater sampling, delivering a thorough understanding of site conditions, with all reports finalized within the project schedule.
