Pinyon completed an Environmental Due Diligence Audit for the FourPoint Resources 2-billion-dollar acquisition of Ovintiv Inc. oil and gas assets in the Uinta Basin area of Utah. Pinyon mobilized 5 staff to safely and efficiently complete on-site inspections of approximately 450 oil and gas facilities as they related to applicable environmental regulations. The field inspections were combined with a desktop review of environmental compliance to create an Environmental Due Diligence Audit report that provided information on environmental status, and also regulatory detail that will be utilized for ongoing compliance guidance. Subject areas covered included: Air Quality, Biological Resources, General Site Maintenance, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Waste and Chemical Reporting, and Water Regulations.
The Pinyon team developed a customized GIS-linked survey form in Survey 123 and developed pre-programmed report templates to autogenerate reports for each survey location. The GIS developed product was designed for efficiency and accuracy to complete audits with five field survey crew members over a period of five days which required each person to complete approximately 90 surveys over that period of time. The GIS development team prepared a list of 45 questions to be answered for each well pad location along with photos that were linked to each well location in the GIS database. Report time was minimized as cleanup of field-entered data and summary of findings was all that was required to complete the survey.
Timing of the acquisition was the biggest hurdle. Pinyon included numerous technical matter experts, including field inspection experts, to create efficient solutions and meet the client’s timing needs.
