Air National Guard Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan

Great Falls, Montana

Pinyon was contracted by AECOM USA (AECOM), to provide biological surveys for the Montana Air National Guard (ANG) 120th Airlift Wing Facility (AWF) and the associated Geographically Separate Unit (GSU) Drop Zone. In 2020 Pinyon completed flora and fauna surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, invasive and noxious weed surveys, protocol level bat surveys, and Waters of the US and wetland surveys for the project in support of the ANG’s Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP). The INRMP was developed to provide guidance on management as it relates to sensitive biological resources, and the field work Pinyon completed was instrumental in the completion of the INRMP.

Pinyon completed desktop analysis, field surveys, on-site interviews, agency coordination, and reporting on Invasive Species, Flora and Fauna, Threatened and Endangered Species, Bat Monitoring Surveys, and Waters of the US and Wetlands for the project. Which included extensive details for the above listed resources as they pertained to updating and refinement of the greater INRMP plan for the ANG base, facilities, and drop zone. Some of these efforts included but were not limited to interviews with multiple base personnel, review of publicly available data, review of base data and records, resource review and field data collection, wetland delineations, acoustic bat surveys, state agency coordination and more. Resource information along with base interviews were summarized in multiple reports which included extensive current biological inventories and recommendations regarding management of the resources consistent with the applicable agencies’ requirements and ANG’s goals.
